In memory of Margaret Bryant

In memory of Margaret Bryant

Orca Book Publishers is sad to announce that Margaret Bryant, longtime sales director, colleague and amazing friend, has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Respected by colleagues, partners and the wider community, Margaret brought her intellect, her common sense and her good humor to everything she did. Over the years she had worked at a number of publishing firms, as a buyer on the retail side and on numerous industry boards and committees. Margaret was always friendly and collegial, and she was completely committed to the industry as a whole. We are saddened and heartbroken at her loss but so proud that we knew her, worked with her and counted her as a friend.

When she joined Orca in January 2018, Margaret immediately became an important part of our team. She strengthened our sales efforts, improved systems and brought intelligence, kindness and a calm approach to solving problems. She cared deeply about Orca and was always generous with her time and support.

When Margaret left Orca in the spring of 2025, we all felt the loss. At the same time we wanted her to have the time and freedom to focus on her health and her family. She embraced that time. She travelled with Dominic, spent precious time with her daughter Alix and continued making plans even while facing an incredibly difficult illness.

If you wish to donate in Margaret’s name, the family has suggested the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, part of Toronto General Hospital.
