When we published our first board book in 2007, we had no idea just how many babies would end up reading and enjoying the book. Welcome Song for Baby: A Lullaby for Newborns by Richard Van Camp caught the eye of some administrators with a baby book program in British Columbia, and they decided to incorporate the book into their welcome packages for new babies. This means that every baby born in BC in 2008 received a copy of Welcome Song for Baby!
Since then, our board book collection has grown exponentially and is now sold across Canada. Our board books have been part of library and family literacy programs in every province in Canada, and even some programs in the USA. Our board books have been translated into other languages, such as Bush Cree, South Slavey and Chipewyan. This means that with the support of non-profit organizations, provincial health and education initiatives, and both public and private libraries, we are playing a part 
in raising the next generation of readers– and that’s an incredible feeling!
We got to thinking about this in light of the Read Local BC campaign happening right now, which serves to highlight the depth of BC publishing. We are fortunate enough to have worked with many amazing BC authors and illustrators on our books, including Susan Musgrave, who is the author of our newest board book, More Blueberries!. Susan’s previous board book, Love You More, (2014) was just chosen as part of this year’s BC Books for Babies package, and we couldn’t be more excited that this book will find its way into the homes of so many BC book lovers to-be.
