Celebrate Pride Month with a colourful picture book parade!

A new picture book from Pride Colors author Robin Stevenson is the perfect read for families to celebrate the joy and vibrant community of a Pride parade in their own homes.

June is Pride Month, and while many worldwide events have been cancelled again this year due to COVID-19, Pride Puppy! will remind readers of the value of community even when they can’t gather in person.

Pride Puppy! is a rhyming alphabet and seek-and-find book with rich, colourful illustrations by Julie McLaughlin that will have readers poring over every detail as they spot items starting with each letter of the alphabet.

It received starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly, calling it “a welcome addition to shelves everywhere” and an introduction to Pride parades that “testifies to the warmth and power of queer community.”

Pride Puppy! shares the story of a young child and their family having a wonderful time together celebrating Pride Day—meeting up with Grandma, making new friends and eating ice cream. But then something terrible happens: their dog gets lost in the parade! Luckily, there are lots of people around to help reunite the pup with his family.

Robin Stevenson is the award-winning author of more than 25 books for kids and teens, including the board book Pride Colors, the picture book Ghost’s Journey: A Refugee Story and the nonfiction books Kid Activists and Pride: The Celebration and the Struggle. The first edition of her nonfiction book Pride: Celebrating Diversity & Community (2016) won a Stonewall Honor and was shortlisted for numerous other awards.

Stevenson lives in Victoria, British Columbia, where she attends Pride celebrations with her family every year but always leaves her dog safely at home.
