Award-winning songwriter and performer Charlotte Diamond releases debut picture book

Charlotte Diamond’s Animal Friends features popular songs such as “Octopus/Slippery Fish,” “Dicky Dinosaur” and “Ottie the Otter”

Charlotte Diamond’s Animal Friends: A Collection of Songs written by Charlotte Diamond and illustrated by Eunji Jung is now available from Orca Book Publishers.

Written for children aged three to five and featuring thirteen of Charlotte’s most popular songs, the book brings some familiar characters to life. “I always dreamed of having my stories/songs illustrated in a children’s book,” shares Charlotte. “This book is a wonderful opportunity to share a visual interpretation of my words.”

The songs featured in the book encourage admiration and respect for animal friends of all shapes and sizes. “The diversity of animals enriches our lives, from the tiniest orb spider spinning a web to the majestic orcas and humpback whales that inhabit our coastal waters,” says Charlotte.

Included in the back matter is a section dedicated to the inspiration behind each song. “Every song has a story or an event that inspired its creation,” describes Charlotte. From encountering moose in the wild to watching a spider spin its web in her garden, each song has a special story behind it.

Praise for Charlotte Diamond’s Animal Friends

“Could be used by teachers/caregivers to develop rhyme, rhythm, and other language skills. Because each poem/song is a stand-alone, this book could be used as a resource tool. Highly Recommended.” —CM: Canadian Review of Materials
